Tim Horton's French Onion Soup

Tim Horton's has a new French Onion Soup promotional item. It looks really good on the posters and I love french onion soup, so I decided to give it a try. I got my chance when Matt and I were on our way to Bathurst and stopped at the Tim Hortons in Cap Pelé, New Brunswick.

I was surprised - it was really good. Not as good as the french onion soup I make at home, but pretty darn good for fast food.

Then a couple days ago I decided to have french onion soup at Tim's again for lunch. I went to the Tim Hortons on St. Peter's Road and Brackley Point Road in Charlottetown. OMG what a disappointment. It was less French Onion Soup and more Onion Skin Soup. The actual soup itself was still the same, but the bowl was smaller than what they gave in NB, and the onions were like chewing on soggy hay.

This is the second time I've had bad luck with the soup at this particular Tim's. I used to like the Tim's clam chowder before I tried it at this Tim's. The chowder was watery, had no detectable clams, and the potatoes were not even cooked. It was awful.

Anyway, I guess the bottom line is that I've never been disappointed by the soup at Tims on the mainland, but the PEI Tim's (all owned by D. P. Murphy Inc.) have severely disappointed a number of times, especially the St. Peter's Rd. location. My advice is to stay away from the soup at Tim's on PEI.

I've never tried Tim's soup but I do like there sandwiches. Must say though that I've not even tried those from the St. Peter's Road Tim's, coffee only. I'll keep it in mind though!

Yeah that location seems to really suck. They also gave me like the worst clam chowder I ever had. I'm not a fan.
